“Trust has the chance to impact everything from clients to organizations to communities, family, and even ourselves. And whatever we do consistently as a person or as an organization is what we’re trusted for,” says Michael Viane, CineTRAIN’s very own Director of Sales. Mike recently sat down during the most recent episode of The Exploring Potential Podcast to discuss trust and consistency in the lens of professional development and leadership. Mike has over 30 years of experience in the cinema industry and is also a professional business coach. Not only are we thrilled to have him on our team, but we are excited to share with you some of the thoughtful insight he has shared on the first episode of a series of three on this topic!
Trust Can Be Actively Built
The wonderful thing about trust as a concept is that it can be put into practice in so many ways. Consistency, transparency, honesty, and more, are all things that we can subscribe to to build trust within our organization. According to the TrustEdge Leadership Institute, the top reason people want to work for an organization is trusted leadership.
Similarly, the Trust Outlook found that:
- 76 % of all employees believe that an ongoing training program would help them trust their employer more.
- two -thirds of Americans want to be trained in people skills, not just technical skills.
We can see through these statistics that trust is an integral part of organizational alignment and success.
The Impact of Trust Internally
When there is trust within an organization and employees are being lead by trusted leadership, there is an increase in innovation, operational efficiency, productivity, morale, and even retention and revenue. A company culture that values honesty and respect creates a safe place for growth and development.
Customers and Trust
As much as trust between all levels of your organization is paramount, establishing it with your clients and customers is equally important. Trust with customers means consistency: trust that your product or service is reliable, safe, and standardized.
Mike shares the story of the company CarMax, and the problem where consumers simply did not trust the industry. When CarMax introduced a haggle-free pricing structure and a commission structure, it seemed radical. But it effectively rebuilt the trust that people had long lost via the “used car salesman” stereotype. People could trust that using CarMax, wherever they went, would be consistent and fair. This story exemplifies the power of trust with your customers.
Mistakes Aren’t All Bad
A huge aspect to building trust can actually be found in admitting and addressing mistakes. Leaders who acknowledge mistakes with honesty and transparency have an amazing opportunity to build trust with both employees and customers, depending on the context. It’s an important point to remember when building our brand and identity- this form of building trust could seem counterintuitive, but it’s a substantial and authentic way to define your core values.
Every Interaction is an Opportunity
Through each moment we interact with our employees, teams, or clients, we are presented with the opportunity to increase or decrease trust. Being intentional and committed to the core values of your company can help to foster this trust each and every day. It may not be easy, but its lasting effects are substantial.
CineTRAIN as a platform strives to implement consistency and standardize your operations, building trust with your employees and beyond. Offering continued education through CineTRAIN builds connection and encourages growth. This yields increased employee engagement and retention, improving customer satisfaction and building loyalty.
